Damascus Airport Transfer Guide (2026) - All Options & Tips
Plan your Damascus Airport transfer with key advice on avoiding scams and checking current options for a secure journey from the airport to the city.
We have not yet verified how travellers currently reach Damascus from the airport serving it, so we are not publishing routes, operators or fares we cannot stand behind. For what is running on the day you travel, the arrivals information published by your arrival airport is the reliable source, and your accommodation will usually know what works best for the hour you land.
Helpful Tips
Grab a yellow service taxi from Al-Amara bus station. These shared cabs rocket between cities at local rates. No haggling needed. Just pay the driver when you hop out. Faster than buses, cheaper than private cars.
Install 'Syriatel Cash' before you land. Microbus drivers now accept this e-wallet instead of wrinkled notes. Top up at any kiosk. Tap your phone, ride. Cashless is king here.
Old Damascus links to the modern suburbs via two key microbus lines. Barada heads west; Qassioun climbs north. Both pick up near the Roman arch. Check Arabic placards on windshields. Jump aboard when you spot yours.
Skip the hotel limo. Walk to Bab Touma square and flag a regular cab to the airport. Agree on the fare before you sit. You will pay markedly less than the concierge rate. Count the notes. Done.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unofficial porters at the arrivals curb insist on carrying bags to the taxi rank and then demand inflated tips. Keep luggage on your trolley and politely decline any unsolicited help.
Taxi drivers at the airport queue quote fares in foreign currency or claim the meter is broken, then ask for multiples of the normal rate. Insist on using the meter or agree a fare in Syrian pounds before leaving the terminal.
Currency-exchange booths inside the terminal advertise 'no commission' but apply a poor rate or slip in lower-denomination notes. Count cash carefully and compare the offered rate against the official central-bank rate shown on your phone before accepting.
